EQUIPMENT LOAN POLICY
Essential equipment can be loaned out to students on a day to day basis. This puts the responsibility onto the student to respect and look after the equipment they have taken out on loan and avoid the constant replenishment of equipment that every year that has either been lost, broken or stolen.
There are ‘kits’ for the standard and chunky gauge flat bed machines so that the students are able to book out a kit for the machine that they are intending to use. Once students have signed out a kit they will be responsible for it until it is returned. If any of the equipment within the kit is damaged or missing when they return it, they must pay for a replacement. This will be charged at the cost for us to replace it, taking into account any postage charges.
Kits can be signed out between 9am - 10am and returned between 4.30pm - 5pm the same day unless previously arranged with one of the knitwear technicians. Any student that does not return the borrowed kit by 5pm will only be able to take a kit out in the future at the technician's discretion.
If dedicated users know they will need a piece of equipment at a time where there will be no technician available to sign it out, they must organise to take it out beforehand.
This does not apply for workshops, where kits will be provided.
